Well, almost never. A recent Renters Survey conducted by California Association of Realtors® shows that most renters who plan to purchase in the near future will stay close to where they currently live. Here’s an infographic indicating how the numbers break down:
Of those surveyed, 41% of renters said they’d live in the same county where they currently reside, while 14% wouldn’t even leave their current neighborhood. 23% didn’t know where they’d move and the rest said they’d live in another county in California (11%), another state (10%), and another country (1%).
Of those surveyed, more than half said they planned to use a Realtor when they buy a home while only 8% said they did not and 36% were undecided.
