The search for a home can some times be overwhelming. Depending on the market and your desires, you can see dozens of homes before committing to “the one.” Going into the search equipped with the right mindset and expectations can make the narrowing process much simpler. Here are three steps you can take to help you make your decision:

LIST THE DEAL-BREAKERS
Before even stepping foot into a home, you’ll want to make a list of your desired features in your ideal home. Once you’ve made your list, begin to identify the key items that you are not willing to negotiate– walk-in closets, backyard, etc. Once you’ve highlighted these areas, you’ll be able to narrow down the search a bit.

IDENTIFY PROS-AND-CONS
As you begin your house hunting, it’s important to keep track of the pros and cons of each home. If you’re seeing multiple homes in one day, a lot of the homes’ features tend to blend together by the end of the day. Keeping tabs on the the things you like and dislike of each home will help narrow down the selection.

CREATE A RATING SCALE
Establish some sort of rating scale from 1 to 10 to help you rate each home you see. This way, you can clearly position each home on your preference list and go from there.
