Eastlake

EastlakeEastlake is a master-planned community on the Eastern edge of the City of Chula Vista and is comprised of several residential neighborhoods bearing the Eastlake name. To many, the term Eastlake has become synonymous with collective master-planned communities of Eastern Chula Vista including Otay Ranch and Rolling Hills. Many Eastlake residents enjoy community pools, tennis, basketball and volleyball courts, many parks, great schools, and shopping centers with well-known stores, restaurants and close proximity to Otay Ranch Towne Center.

History of Eastlake

Between 1979-1981 the H.G. Fenton Company hired Cadillac Fairview Homes West of Newport Beach to plan, zone, and develop 3,200 acres of land just south of San Diego in the City of Chula Vista. Later, Cadillac Fairview Homes West transferred the project to employees Ron Lane and Dave Kuhn, who formed the Eastlake Company and gathered a team to develop the land. Despite some initial opposition from Chula Vista community leaders, the Eastlake Company was formed and the vision of Eastlake was to create a community that has everything a family would ever need — schools, parks, stores, business centers — within a single area. Most importantly, the founders wanted to create a community that was safe, serene and supportive of healthy, happy living. (source)

Eastlake Homes

Eastlake communities offer a wide range of property types although predominantly detached single-family homes you will find many townhomes and condominiums. Until recently, Rancho Buena Vista Apartments, a 150-unit low-income housing development located off of Eastlake Parkway was the only rental apartment in Eastlake. Recently built CasaLago Eastlake touts itself as Eastlake’s only luxuty rental townhomes. The Eastlake community is known for being a safe and family-friendly community. Each of Eastlake’s subdivisions have their own homeowners’ associations with HOA fees to maintain the community pools, parks and common areas. Although certain neighborhoods such as Eastlake Hills and Eastlake Shores no longer have Mello Roos, more recently built Eastlake homes are still subject to the additional fees.
